RIP, Harvey Korman
I grew up watching the Carol Burnett Show. I’m sure I didn’t understand 90 per cent of the humor coming from Carol, Vicki, Tim, Harvey and Lyle, but I watched for “Mama”, for the Tarzan yell, and for Conway’s Little Old Man.
To me, seeing old Carol Burnett Show clips takes me back to a time before school, before homework, before I truly understood the big bad world.
The Carol Burnett Show was never “cool”. It never had its retro moments. Maybe it reeked of the establishment, maybe it didn’t push the envelope, maybe it wasn’t cutting edge. But that’s ok. It was just damn funny.
In honor of the passing of Harvey Korman today, I’ve found a collection of Korman related sites.
JibJab has possibly the funniest sketch in the Carol Burnett Show’s history, Tim and Harvey in “The Dentist”. Harvey’s complete inability to keep from laughing just feeds the frenzy.
Carol Burnett Show fan site (great stuff!)
The AP’s story on Korman’s passing is excellent.
Goodbye Harvey, we’ll miss you.
