Learning to love the backup
Full confession: I’m a geek. And at times, I’m a smug geek. I use a Mac, so I don’t worry about viruses (much). I have my laptop in (mostly) perfect running order and can troubleshoot 99 per cent of the computer problems in my household (and enjoy doing it).
And, I backup my data.
It’s true. Every week, I dutifully pull out my external drive and back up my important files. Maybe it comes from being a writer, but there’s something chilling about losing my hard-earned data and photos.
That’s not to say it’s not a huge pain in the butt. I’ve known all along there are better ways to deal with backups, but I’m old school. I still hand code my HTML, and I don’t use automated backup services.
Until now.
Mozy.com. 2GB free, and it’s all seamless. It even works with Macs. This is not a paid promo or any sort of sponsored post, this is just someone way too set in her ways, blown away by how easy it is. There’s really nothing else to say. Just go take a look.
